Perfect

A 1600. Not a 1550, not even a 1590, but a perfect, sickening 1600. I just didn’t understand how it was possible not to get one question wrong on an entire SAT. How could there not be one trick question? One mistake? My brother’s score made me sick.I am the baby in the family, the younger one, the second child ... whatever you want to call it. Brian was born three years before me, and I’m sure his birth was perfect, just as he is. I have spent my entire life living in my brother’s shadow, desperately searching for any possible way to get a tan. When we were little we would put on mini-musicals for our parents, set up lemonade stands, and make forts in the basement out of Donald Duck blankets and Lion King sheets. My brother was the director and lead in the plays; I was the back-up singer. Brian squeezed the lemons and sold the drinks; I ran back and forth between our house and the stand getting more sugar and cups. My brother envisioned and created the for ts, and me? I stood under the base blanket to make sure it didn’t fall and ruin our glorious citadel. As I got older, I began to realize that Brian wasn’t just better than me at squeezing fruit or tying sheets together. He got straight A+’s in school and was elected captain of his math team. I’ve always been an A/B student, but I began to dread the first day of classes when I would hear â€Å"Oh, you’re Brian’s sister? Wow! I hope you do just as well as he did!† Brian graduated number one in his junior high class, and went on to be a National Merit Scholar, ranking fourth in his class senior year. Not to mention he’s the yearbook editor, head school photographer and theater technical director ... I guess you could say my brother has succeeded throughout his life.It took me many years to be able to see beyond the rows of ribbons and medals lining his shelves into my own heart. My brother and I joined our town’s soccer and basketball teams and I began to see that although I might not be able to score higher on a math test, I sure could beat him one-on-one to the basket. And even if he could read five books in the time it took me to read one, I could run circles around him on the field. Sports became my refuge, my way into the sun, and I loved the feeling practice gave me. During middle school, my brother would sit at the kitchen table and dive into a river of books and homework, while I would dribble a soccer ball around his chair and the table. After my first year on the team, I received the Most Valuable Player and Strongest Defender awards. Finally, I was the best at something. My strengths appeared out of nowhere, and I realized I wasn’t just good at sports, I was a great writer and a computer whiz. I could memorize history facts faster than anyone, and was elected vice president of SADD and inducted into the National Honor Society. My work was published in a nationwide magazine three ti mes and I won a writing contest. I wasn’t just Brian’s sister, I was Sara. I was me.Two years ago, when the letter came from Vassar College, my brother’s top choice, I knew in my heart that he was accepted. He ripped open the manila envelope and the rest is history. My mother cried and my father shook his hand and told us how proud he was of Brian. And me? Heck, I jumped up and down right with him, because I know that when I open my acceptance letter to the college of my dreams, my brother will be the first to congratulate me. The two of us will be holding down the fort forever, together.

Free Weights vs. Machines Weights Essay examples - 1382 Words

Free Weights vs. Machines Weights People have enjoyed working out for a long time. The going to the gym and working out trend is gaining popularity every year. Right now working out is the rage. Health clubs are getting built and remolded. There is still one question that the average working out Joe wants an answer for. Which is better? Free weights or machine weights? Does it really matter? When a person works out with free weights it is necessary for him to have a spotter (a person to watch him in case he fails to lift the desired weight). The only time one could work out without a spotter is if he/she is lifting extremely light/weights. Even this could be dangerous. No one I know recommends lifting free weights†¦show more content†¦There is not one exercise that a person of larger size cannot do. All free weight equipment is open, while machine equipment is in closed. Both machines and free weight benches can be adjusted to get the proper angle one desires. There are two exercises that can only truly be done using free weights and that is the parallel squat and power clean. There are a few weight machines that try to mimic the squat but there is really no substitute. The squat is the king of all exercise. It builds thigh and hip development and strengthens the lower back. It also strengthens all the tiny stabilizer muscles in the body. The power clean is a full body exercise that strengthens and builds all the major muscles in the body like shoulder, back, legs, and arms. There is a downfall of free weights. One has to pick them up and return them to the tree (rack) after they are completed in their exercise routine. Using free weights, a person will achieve greater mass than he would if he did the same exercise using machine equipment. Free weights use the person’s natural range of motion and strengthen their stabilizer muscles. If one switches from machine weights to free weights they will notice that they will shake a lot. Once that person becomes adjusted to the feel of free weights his stabilizer muscles will get stronger and he/she won’t shake as much if at all. To balance with the fees of the passengers, there are certain charges which are levied and accordingly the problem is managed according to the facilities and the accessibility of the product. Persona creation and client journey mapping are simply two parts that may facilitate client expertise professionals produce a sound customer-centric strategy. To be fully productive, chief client expertise officers would like a coalition of prime executives UN agency take a lively role in reworking the organization through client expertise governance. The fees to handle all the variable supplies and managing the company notation to operate the party advises have to be managed and handled according to the company support. With the change in the security range, there are certain responsibilities which are on the airport passengers which are able to handle all the contracts from the private sectors, thereby, helping them to bring a shared system between the (Janic, 2014) sources along with the employee management. The bonds have to be managed and supported with the interests as per the issues which lead to the government rise. There is a borrower and some sources which have the liability to handle the finances as per the expansion at the airport. There is a GOB, which is for assuring and guaranteeing the people to purchase the agency at a lower price which can help in stating and approval as per the purchase. GARB, is more beneficial as there is no need for any agreements rather people have the liability to gain and access the rate of interests as per the charges. Initiative to attract airlines Since people are ready to invest more in better accomplishments and usage of transport which can help them to save time, the airlines have put in their initiatives by financing many airport terminals like Heathrow which is directly (Abeyratne, 2014) from the UK government side. With the start of the famous terminal in London, there were many other suppliers who tried to give a helping hand to maintain the industrial or constructions at different floors. There was a complement management and the partitions were according to the doors and the ceilings which could differentiate the area. There are certain steps which can make the customer journey lively enough and not tiring though. Some of them are: Customers United Nations agency drive further revenue for the airline through the acquisition of ancillaries and upgrades; Existing client worth supported data derived from information regarding the foremost recent visits, the frequency of visits and also the value paid; More services are inlaid in the airport and services to those people who want to get food or clothing are generally to be seen in the airport ground only. As there is more development of the economic part, there is a feature which supports and try to lower the degree of power in the market by commercialised acts, directly leading to a regulation of economy in the country. (Wells Young, 2004). It is a surety that with increase in the traffic, there will be inclination in the services provided with the support of profit which will regulate a better economic service in the country. With the variability in the commercialised products, there is a traffic volume which sustains the managing culture to bring an activity to off-sit the economic revenues and manage the culture and security to handle all the locations. (Wilke et al., 2014). To manage the customers are to increase the revenue of the airport systems, there are different segments which can differentiate and arrive. The passengers have the liability to depart and arrive in time, bringing a leisure to their individuality and approach to handle the groups of all ages. With the residents who are visitors and generally visit the airport for some business meetings, there is a best place for them to facilitate and lead to agreement. There are different types of passengers and accordingly they prefer to hold the different shop s according to their ability and requirement. Some of the detailed revenues are: The links are made to enable the people to manage the resources as per the availability in the shopping slots along with encouraging shopping in it. There will be parking in the systems according to the meetings and the revenue is collected from the people who come and go from there. With the platform existence and the exhibitions, one can support to spend on some better shops whose demand is more in the common public. The airports have the racing tracks which are for sitting and for tracking all the zone of the airport systems. (Jarach, 2005). With the employment and shipment services, the people try to access in bulk all the powerful supplies which would otherwise be overseen by the airport faculties. There is a settlement of contract which is for the specialised retailers for the onshore activities and supplying the product. The products have to be easily provided over many contract details. For higher profits and ranges, there are many details which balance the operator requirement according to the outlet facilities. With the complete clear specifications, the people have the liability to track and manage the levels of staff to train and market their products to brand them and maintain for innovation and better policies. The brand of the airport has been increasingly commercialised with the effectiveness in the promotion through different routes. There is an attraction of airlines which outline how there is a forecasting of services along with managing the expense for the analyses of route. An airline ought to realize Associate in Nursing intimate business partner, like Sabre Airline Solutions, that may facilitate develop the client journey mapping strategy and drive it forward. The outcome of this may reveal the touch points among every step that impact the client expertise for every persona. It will determine the relative importance to the client expertise for every persona of every step within the travel journey. The process of client journey mapping permits Associate in nursing airline are to hone on the touch points that emerge because the most vital to act with customers from the customers purpose of read. This permits the airline to work out what it is doing well, wherever enhancements are required and wherever to speculate in solutions to reinforce the client expertise, increase revenue and grow complete loyalty. Talking about the example which is about the Vienna determining potential to track and lead the activities of the passengers (Kazda Caves, 2007) and directing it forward with the respective markets of export. The marketing scenario completely sustain all the issues which are able to handle the different product range and fees to draw the attention from the passengers and promote the facilities and accessibility. The high rate of capital and the scope of rise in economy always cater to the need of outsourcing the product along with including all the details to invest for more basic organisation structure. Identifying the foremost vital touch points and associated interactions to concentrate on springs by combining the weighted importance of the persona to the airline at that step with the weighted importance to the persona of every step. The fees which is being analysed to park and land into lighting scenario and share all the details with the aeronautical fees, one can represent shi ft in it with better maintenance. The charges for the aeronautical services are variable and completely depend on the traditional rates along with comparison of normally giving an upright to the weight and charge of the customers. (Graham, 2014). Conclusion The management process has to be properly managed with a great comfort and try to profitably increase the requirements which can help the customers to become active for analysing competition along with growth in the airline system. With the growth in the opportunity and the capacity to promote the services, there are models to activate the factors for supporting the flight designation and determining the fare which can be variable depending upon the frequency of the flights and services. (Wu Lee, 2014). With an ease in the approach to the airport, there is a cost allotted for parking vehicles which depend on the requirement a particular passenger has. There are certain surface related cost products which have the liability to analyse and balance the competition with the airline. The diversified image and structure can help to see and manage all the losses which are written by the government for the employment of the people. Reference Wu, C. L., Lee, A. (2014). Why Zebras Dont Get Ulcers Essay Example For Students

Why Zebras Dont Get Ulcers Essay Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers August 6, 2009 Abstract Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers by Robert M. Sapolsky, gives a description of the inner workings of the human, and animal, stress response. He talks about what physiologically happens to people when they remain in a state of stress of a long period of time. The immune response, depression, aging and death, and sexual reproduction are just some of the topics Sapolsky discusses and how stress affects each of these. Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers I chose Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers (1994) because I was intrigued by the similarities between humans and animals in regards to their responses to acute and chronic stress. As a medical professional, I feel that I have a strong background in human physiology and therefore could relate to this book. It did not disappoint. This book is written by Robert M. Sapolsky, a professor of biological sciences, as well as neurology and neurological sciences at Stanford University. As a neuroendocrinologist, he has done extensive research in the area of hormonal response to stress and their effects on the body. We will write a custom essay on Why Zebras Dont Get Ulcers specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now As a research associate for the National Museums of Kenya, he spends time studying baboons in their natural habitat and the stressors that they endure along with stress related illnesses that their environment may bring about. In Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers, Sapolsky examines the adverse effects of long-term stress and the associated physical and mental damage it can cause. During the first five chapters, Sapolsky goes into great detail, engrained with humor, about the physiological changes that happen in our bodies during periods of stress. He explains the principles of the â€Å"fight or flight† response brought on by the body’s sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for preparing our bodies for exertion through the release of glucocorticoids. These hormones raise our heart rate in order to increase the flow of oxygenated blood to the working muscles; gut motility decreases as blood is shunted to the vital organs; pupils dilate to increase light perception; and our airway passages dilate allowing us to increase respiration in order to bring in more oxygen which is much needed for the exertion our body is under. All of these changes occur in just fractions of a second; however it takes longer for these effects to leave the body once the threat or stressor is removed. Sapolsky goes on to explain to the reader why other changes or responses happen during activation of the sympathetic nervous system. He humorously details why we sometimes experience loss of urinary bladder or bowel control during a stressful encounter. If we were to get up off of our couch, walk outside the front door and come face to face with a hungry lion, then our sympathetic nervous systems will take over, secrete the stress hormones, and put our bodies through the changes I described above. In addition to preparing our bodies for fight, it will also temporarily stop the digestive process, in order to expend the body’s energy where it is needed the most. By stopping this process, the small intestines stop their contractions; however the large intestines continue their peristalsis movement in order to rid the body of excess â€Å"baggage†, or fecal matter. It’s much easier to move quickly for humans and animals alike, whether running from a shooting down the street, or running from a hungry lion across the grasslands, when you’re not carrying a couple of extra pounds of feces. The portions of this book that were of great interest to me were when the author talks about repeated stimulations of the sympathetic nervous system and its potential harmful effects on the body over time. These stimulations don’t always have to be at the level of being face to face with the hungry lion. In our everyday modern lives, we have stressors thrust upon us, and even sometimes without our knowledge. .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .postImageUrl , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:hover , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:visited , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:active { border:0!important; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:active , .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u224f085bc66415a7a8db1e45b26425be:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Hackers EssayOur reactions to the smaller stressors in life, such as driving in traffic, arguments with spouses, raising children, stress with work for example, can cause cardiac and cardiovascular damage without us even knowing about it. Our bodies secrete stress hormones whenever we experience one of these stressful encounters, large or small. This repeated activation can, over the long term, cause irreversible damage causing the formation of atherosclerosis, which is the chronic inflammatory response in arterial walls, eventually causing blockage and reducing blood flow. This is a particularly serious condition when it occurs in the arterial walls of the small coronary arteries which feed oxygen to the heart muscle. In a typical fight or flight response, these coronary arteries will dilate in order to increase their capacity for delivering oxygen-rich blood to the heart, which is now beating faster to provide blood to the muscles. Sapolsky tells us that continued stress responses will decrease the vessel’s ability to dilate and may in fact constrict, therefore reducing oxygenated blood to reach the cardiac tissue when it needs it the most. The chest pain that these people feel during stressful times unfortunately may be the first and only indicator of cardiac disease. This damage is not just limited to the cardiovascular system. With enough stress, humans are at a higher risk for developing adult-onset diabetes. This is due to the body releasing glucose and fatty acids into the bloodstream during stress, again in order to feed the exerting muscles. At the same time, the body tends to block insulin production, and we remember from basic physiology that insulin is the key hormone that allows glucose to enter the cells. Without insulin there to make this happen, excess glucose remains in the blood if it’s not used by the muscles. Continued stress responses over time can eventually cause the uptake of glucose into the cells to be hindered, thereby creating a diabetic condition. Sapolsky goes on to explain how stress in our lives can also lead to loss of libido and reproduction. During periods of stress, males can see a decrease in circulating testosterone due to a release of specific hormones in the brain which basically shut down the activity of the testes, which are responsible for testosterone release. On the female side, the author tells us that studies have shown how stress suppresses estrogen production, which in turn disrupts sexual behavior in women. (Sapolsky, 1994. p. 124) Another interesting part of this book, talks about the decreased immune response during times of stress. Hans Selye, one of the godfathers of stress physiology, discovered the first evidence of stress-induced immunosuppression back in the 1930s. Selye learned that the same glucocorticoids that are responsible for sympathetic response, was also a large contributor in immune system suppression. Glucocorticoids stop the formation of lymphocytes as well as inhibit the release of interleukins and interferons which make already circulating lymphocytes less responsive to infections. Sapolsky hypothesized why evolution would create this process from happening. He wanted to know why the immune system is disabled during periods of stress. As he states in this book, it appears that no one knows just yet why this makes sense. In the later chapters, Sapolsky talks about the effects of stress on aged organisms. Compared to younger generations, the elderly function just the same as long as they are not stressed. Once a stressor is introduced, the elderly may have numerous problems coping with that stress. There may be a lack of a stress response, or a decreased sympathetic response because the heart itself and the blood vessels have lost their elasticity which allow them to dilate and constrict, and therefore may not be able to respond appropriately to physiological changes. Another problem may be that they have too much of a stress response. .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .postImageUrl , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:hover , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:visited , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:active { border:0!important; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:active , .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7537394dea455aec2b933ce4ea61fe2e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Shintoism In Japan EssayIt will take longer for hormone levels to return to their pre-stress levels and return to baseline. The author concludes this section by revealing that in more than a dozen species, excess glucocorticoid levels is the cause of death during aging. (Sapolsky, 1994, p. 237) Overall I was very pleased with this book. I was very surprised at the immense detail Sapolsky went into in describing the hormonal response during stress. His background and experience as a neuroendocrinologist was very apparent in his writing. For someone without formal knowledge of human physiology, I could see this being a difficult read. He does however take the time to explain these processes with his humorous tone, and this makes it a much more enjoyable read. As a result of reading this book, I am committing myself to the following changes. I always understood the adverse effects that stress had on the body, but I received somewhat of a wake-up call when I read about how the continued release of stress hormones over the years can have such a damaging effect on the heart. I will do my best to avoid being upset by the little things in life and take the stress relief measures that I have learned and apply them to my own life so that I can prevent cardiac problems, diabetes and other stress-induced diseases. I may not be under the threat of being gored by an elephant or sized up by a hungry lion each day, but I can still take Sapolsky’s lessons and use that knowledge to better my life by improving how I perceive the stressors I encounter. A Bunch of Comments

A Bunch of Comments A Bunch of Comments A Bunch of Comments By Maeve Maddox The review post about â€Å"there is† and â€Å"there are† triggered so many comments about the word bunch that I decided to give the word a post of its own. Here’s the sentence that provoked the discussion: In his arms there are a whole bunch of corn husks. Some readers defended the plural verb, suggesting that speakers often use bunch to mean many. I suppose that when bunch is used figuratively to mean â€Å"a group of people,† treating it like committee or staff makes sense. Collective nouns like these may be either singular or plural, according to whether they are thought of as a unit or as a group of individuals: The committee has approved the plans. (singular) The committee are divided in opinion. (plural) The staff is attending a retreat in the Catskills. (singular) The staff are preparing their classrooms. (plural) Our bunch is going to the races on Friday. (singular) That bunch in Washington believe they are above the law. (plural) Note: The plural constructions in these examples are all flagged by Word as needing singular verbs. The earliest OED citation for bunch shows it used with the meaning â€Å"A protuberance, especially on the body of an animal.† For example, a 1398 reference to the camels of Arabia states that they have â€Å"two bunches on the back.† A character in Shakespeare’s Richard III (c.1593) refers to hunchbacked Richard as a â€Å"poisonous bunchback’d toad.† Bunch in the sense of bundle is cited in 1505: â€Å"For thy bed, take now one bunch of straw.† At one time, a bunch was a measurement that contained a certain quantity. For example, â€Å"a bunch of reeds† was â€Å"28 inches round.† In modern usage, a bunch is â€Å"a collection or cluster of things of the same kind, either growing together (as a bunch of grapes), or fastened closely together in any way (as a bunch of flowers, a bunch of keys); also a portion of a dress gathered together in irregular folds.† (OED) One reader asked to know if there is a difference between â€Å"a bunch† and â€Å"a whole bunch.† Both mean â€Å"a lot of.† â€Å"A whole bunch† is an intensification of â€Å"a bunch.† Neither expression belongs in formal writing. Just for fun, I entered the phrases â€Å"there is a bunch† and â€Å"there are a bunch† in the Google Ngram Viewer. â€Å"There is a bunch† has the graph all to itself from 1800 to 1865, when the first â€Å"there are a bunch† makes its appearance. The plural expression remains insignificant until the 1940s, when it begins to rise in frequency. In 1984, â€Å"there are a bunch† pulls ahead of â€Å"there is a bunch† and soars ahead until 2000, which is as far as the graph goes. There’s no knowing the context that produced the results on the Ngram chart. I mention it only as a curiosity. Bottom line: When the collection referred to by the word bunch is made up of people, a plural verb does not jar. When referring to bundles of straw, grass, grapes, cornhusks and the like, pair bunch with a singular verb. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Explain how commanders execute command in coalition warfare using Essay

Explain how commanders execute command in coalition warfare using shared values and commitment-focused influence to achieve success - Essay Example Sovereign states contribute forces to a coalition; every state, thus, has its own hunger for risk. It is along these lines exceptionally improbable that all countries in a coalition will evacuate their provisos both implied as well as explicit in view of principal agent connections. Both policymakers and war zone leaders must comprehend that one can either have coalition accomplices with provisos, or no coalition accomplices by any means. I, in any event, think it far-fetched that a future pioneer would pick the last alternative. On the other hand, only in light of the fact that admonitions are an unavoidable truth does not imply that progressively isnt possible to better encourage coalition union. I think more could be done to better set up our respective militaries male and to work in a multinational setting. Society, mentality, reasoning, national relative focal points, principle, training. These are progress that can prompt coalition erosion. Furthermore, these can be better overseen through changes in multinational preparing, working out, principle advancement, facilitated acquisition. It benefits those countries who progressively incline toward or will be progressively needed to work through coalitions to attempt a genuine exertion expecting to enhance interoperability between key accomplices and partners. Whats more, preferably, these endeavors should happen in peacetime, before operations on the combat zone simply like whatever other part of military readiness. Very frequently, examinations of interoperability start and end with creating regular benchmarks for gadgets and innovations. At the end of the day, enhancing mechanical interoperability is vital yet not sufficient. Maybe, "interoperability" should be considered comprehensively, over the powers from every country. National guard foundations ought to be soliciting themselves what the suggestions from coalition fighting have for parts of power arranging, including teaching,

To meet up with these objectives, the following plan would be followed and proposed to the organiser: For the scope of this project, it is being undertaken for a target audience of 5,000 people. In addition to this, the plan is being developed for the musical festival to take place one month from today. Detailing the team structure has to do with resource loading and task scheduling. The structuring of the clients team to handle this project would depend on the number of employees it has. If the number of employees were given then I would have proceeded to making a resource loading chart so that the client would strictly follow. However, my team is an eleven-man team comprising the overall project director, and ten other persons.

Job Requirements of an Addiction Counselor Essay -- Career

The job of an addiction counselor specializing in, but not limiting my choice to substance abuse is the job profession I have chosen. The opportunities for this field are very open in my area of the country and throughout the Unites States. The counselors that work within range of me are very busy, and have little time to offer to a person in training. I was able to arrange an email interview with a particular counselor working at a rehabilitation facility for alcoholics and drug addicts. His job entailed monitoring the day-to-day progress of several people assigned to his case load. These clients were monitored for coping skills, stress levels, emotional stability, and general state of health. These areas were not limited to whether it was personal, romantic, or job related, but covered all aspects of the client’s day. The interview consisted of a brief explanation of each of the five questions and was performed via email. The counselor replied stating that his job duties included; group and individual therapy sessions. Other areas of responsibility were taking notes, treatment planning and management of each case including referrals and all documents. The counselor mentioned the most difficult obstacle was resistance from the client and being able to carry out a treatment plan. He also mentioned there is always the difficulty of emotional detachment. This is also one of the reasons the job is rewarding. The fact that this is a very engaging and challenging job, but there are times it can be sad. With alcoholics and addicts you never know what they will do next, since they can be unpredictable. This can be a fun and interesting profession, and is one that keeps you on your toes. The counselor explained that these are the t... ...lenging and rewarding, and yet sometimes they would bring sadness. One has to be a strong and caring person to work with people who have addictions. In the end, the result would be for the patient to feel better about their self and gain the desire to succeed. Works Cited Kartha, D. (2010). Substance abuse counselor job description. Basic Tooth Anatomy

Teeth are shaped according to its function and location in the mouth but regardless of its shape and function, it is composed of the same structures as follows: Crown- is the top portion of the tooth. This is what we can see in the oral cavity just by looking inside our patients’ mouth. Root- is the part of the tooth that is embedded in the bone. We can see the root of a tooth usually in a radiograph. Each tooth is composed of 4 primary structures namely: Enamel- is the hardest and most mineralized substance in the body. It covers the outside of the crown of the tooth and is translucent. Because the content of enamel is highly mineralized it also makes it susceptible to cavities. How? Reasons for decay vary but mostly it is due to ingestion of sugars that react with the bacteria found in the mouth that forms a type of acid that attacks enamel therefore it weakens enamel and overtime causes cavities. Dentin- makes up the bulk of the tooth and lies under enamel. It covers the pulp and the color may range from gray to yellow usually penetrating through the enamel. Dentin is composed of mineralized connective tissue like enamel but it is softer. It is necessary for the support of enamel. It also serves as a cushion to protect enamel from breaking. Pulp- is found at the center of the tooth. It is composed of nerves and blood vessels that provide nutrients to the tooth. And since it is made up of these structures, the pulp is soft and vulnerable without the protection of enamel and dentin. At the tip of the pulp we can find what is called as the â€Å"apex† of the root, this is a small opening where blood vessels and nerves pass through. Cementum- is a bone like connective tissue located around the root. It helps support the teeth by providing a place of attachment to the other tissues that surround the teeth in the socket.

Using Visual Basic VBA with HTTPS and SSL

Is it possible to access web pages with HTTPS and that require login/password using Excel? Well, yes and no. Heres the deal and why its not so straight forward. First, Lets  Define Terms HTTPS is by convention the identifier for what is called SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). That doesnt really have anything to do with passwords or logins as such. What SSL does is set up an encrypted connection between a web client and server so that no information is sent between the two in the clear -- using unencrypted transmissions. If the information includes login and password information, encrypting the transmission protects them from prying eyes...but encrypting passwords isnt a requirement. I used the phrase by convention because the real security technology is SSL. HTTPS only signals to the server that the client plans on using that protocol. SSL can be used in a variety of other ways. So...if your computer sends a URL to a server that uses SSL and that URL starts with HTTPS, your computer is saying to the server: Hey Mr. Server, lets shake hands over this encryption thing so that whatever we say from now on wont get intercepted by some bad guy. And when thats done, go ahead and send me the page addressed by the URL. The server will send back the key information for setting up an SSL connection. Its up to your computer to actually do something with it. Thats key (pun...well, sorta intended) to understanding the role of VBA in Excel. The programming in VBA would have to actually take the next step and implement the SSL on the client side. Real web browsers do that automatically and show you a little lock symbol in the status line to show you that it has been done. But if the VBA just opens the web page as a file and reads the information in it into cells in a spreadsheet (a very common example), Excel wont do that without some additional programming. The servers gracious offer to shake hands and set up secure SSL communication just gets ignored by Excel. But You Can Read the Page You Requested in Exactly the Same Way To prove it, lets use the SSL connection that is used by Googles Gmail service (which starts with https) and code a call to open that connection just like it was a file. This reads the web page like it was a simple file. Since recent versions of Excel will import HTML automatically, after the Open statement is executed, the Gmail page (minus the Dynamic HTML objects) is imported into a spreadsheet. The goal of SSL connections is to exchange information, not just read a web page, so this is normally not going to get you very far. To do more, you have to have some way, in your Excel VBA program, to support both the SSL protocol and maybe to support DHTML too. Youre probably better off starting with the full Visual Basic rather than Excel VBA. Then use controls like the Internet Transfer API WinInet and call Excel objects as needed. But it is possible to use WinInet directly from an Excel VBA program. WinInet is an API - Application Programming Interface - to WinInet.dll. Its mainly used as one of the major components of Internet Explorer, but you can use it directly from your code as well and you can use it for HTTPS. Writing the code to use WinInet is at least a medium difficulty task. In general, the steps involved are: Connect to the HTTPS server and send an HTTPS requestIf the server asks for a signed client certificate, resend the request after attaching the certificate contextIf the server is satisfied, the session is authenticated There are two major differences in writing the WinInet code to use https rather than the regular HTTP: You should also keep in mind that the function of exchanging a login/password is logically independent of encrypting the session using https and SSL. You can do one or the other, or both. In many cases, they do go together, but not always. And implementing the WinInet requirements doesnt do anything to respond automatically to a login/password request. If, for example, the login and password are part of a web form, then you might have to figure out the names of the fields and update the fields from Excel VBA before posting the login string to the server. Responding correctly to a web servers security is a big part of what a web browser does. On the other hand, if SSL authentication is required, you might consider using the InternetExplorer object to log in from within VBA... The bottom line is that using https and logging into a server from an Excel VBA program is possible, but dont expect to write the code that does it in just a few minutes.
